Tax Status 

The Roughing It Foundation is a Non-Profit 501(c) (3)

• The Roughing It Foundation is exempt from federal income tax under section 501 (a) of the Internal Revenue Code as an organization described in section 501 (c) (3). 

• This non-profit status was granted to the Roughing It Foundation in IRS letter dated 7 January 2002. 

• The advanced ruling period ended on 31 December 2004 and the Roughing It Foundation submitted all required documentation to the IRS for review. 

• The IRS confirmed the 501 (c) (3) status of the Roughing It Foundation in its letter dated 8 July 2005. 

• The IRS assigned a public charity status of  170 (b) (1) (A) (vi) to the Roughing It Foundation.
