Supporting Camp

The Roughing It
Foundation works to send children to camp in Northern California.
Here are some other great organizations with that help kids experience
the joys of camp!
|

The Max and Marion Caldwell
Foundation
|
This
foundation recognizes the lifelong contribution of two of summer
camping’s most important pioneers. Max and Marion Caldwell are
also the two most influential mentors that Ann & Hobie have had
over their years in camping. Ann & Hobie met at Kennolyn and
worked there for three summers. They sent their girls to
Kennolyn and have referred many campers to Kennolyn through out
the years. Hobie was a camper at Kennolyn and his mother was
on staff. We obviously have a very special place in our hearts
for the Caldwell family and encourage your support of this
foundation. Ann and Hobie continue to maintain close
relationships with all the Caldwell family and with the Kennolyn
administrators. |
|

The John Austin Cheley
Foundation
|
Ann & Hobie have had
a long and rewarding association with the Cheley family and their fine
camp in Colorado. Both of the Woods girls attended Cheley Colorado
Camps as teenagers and Ann & Hobie had the opportunity to know Jack
Cheley early in their career. We have been blessed to know Don and
Carole Cheley, the current directors and work with them in various
professional associations. |
|

East Bay Regional Parks
Foundation |
This
foundation provides many camperships to children in the East Bay
and is one of the sources for recipients of Roughing It
Foundation camperships. Hobie has served on the East Bay
Regional Parks Camping Task Force and Roughing It has
participated in the EBRP Day Camp Collaborative. Roughing It
operates its Ranch Day Camp on a site within the EBRP Briones
Park under a concessionaire agreement. |
|

The Taylor Family Foundation
|
The Taylor
Family Foundation is the major supporter of Camp Arroyo a camp
for children with life threatening illnesses. Ann & Hobie have
known the Taylor's for years and are proud to have had their
children at Roughing It. Roughing It donates annually to
various Taylor Family Foundation fundraisers and we encourage
your support. |
|

Camping
Unlimited
|
Camping Unlimited is the
premier camping program for children and adults with
developmental disabilities in the San Francisco Bay Area. Ann &
Hobie had the opportunity to know Alex Krem the early founder of
the camp and have worked with many of the Camping Unlimited and
Camp Krem staff through out the years. The Roughing It
Foundation makes annual donations to Camping Unlimited to
support their fine work. |

|

Morry's Camp
|
This
foundation commemorates the lifelong work of Morry Stein and
provides a quality camp experience for many children who would
not otherwise have the opportunity to attend camp. Ann & Hobie
had the great privilege to know Morry Stein early in their camp
career and to serve with him on a variety of American Camping
Association and Association of Independent Camps boards and
committees. He was a great camp professional and very generous
with his time and counsel.
|

Camp Okizu |
Camp Okizu
provides a special opportunity for children with cancer to
participate in a camp experience. They provide a variety of
very important programs for children with cancer including an
Oncology Camp, Siblings Camp, Family Camp and Bereavement
Program. |
|
American Camping
Foundation
The American Camping Foundation
raises funds to support the work of the American Camps Association, the
nations premier camping professional association. Ann & Hobie have been
very active in the American Camps Association through out their careers
and have served on many of its boards, committees and task forces.
Donations to the American Camping Foundation benefit all summer camps by
improving the professional standards and operations of all member camps.
Special American Camping
Foundation Donations. The American Camping Foundation offers a
special donation program to expand the diversity of campers within
member camps. Roughing It Day Camp participates in this program and
donations may be made by check to the American Camping Foundation and
mailed to Roughing It. The donation will then be used to fund a camper
from a diverse background to attend Roughing It Day Camp.
|

The Guardsmen
|
The
Guardsmen send over 3000 children to camp every summer and are a
major source of camperships for children from diverse
backgrounds who would not otherwise be able to attend camp.
They are major supporters of Camp Mendocino (Boys & Girls Club),
Camp Armstrong (CYO) and Camp Jones Gulch (YMCA). They conduct
a wide variety of fundraising events and we encourage your
active support of the Guardsmen. |
